Seeing Antoine Semenyo as just a left wing-back completely undersells how versatile he really is.
People talk like Semenyo is only good enough for one position, no guys, that’s not the full picture.
Semenyo is the kind of player who can be interchangeable across the front line. He’s not just a wing-back, he’s someone you could see all over the pitch, drifting into the half-spaces, linking with strikers, and creating danger in multiple areas.
In the right system, he could play as one of the #10 options, rotating with Cunha or Mbeumo, or even slotting in as a secondary striker when needed.
Yes, he can handle wing-back duties in certain game situations, his pace, directness and work rate make him a threat there, but to pigeonhole him as just a left wing-back is too narrow.
He’s adaptable, intelligent with his movement, and capable of affecting games in more ways than one.
If we sign Semenyo, we won’t need to sign another attacker for at least two years, because he would fill multiple roles and give Amorim tactical flexibility we currently lack.
That said, signing another attacker before properly fixing the midfield isn’t a smart move. The balance of this team still starts there.
Well, Semenyo isn’t a one-position player. He’s a tool that gives the manager options, and that’s exactly what this team needs. ![]()
