Bruno Fernandes release clause revelation drops right before Man United’s Aston Villa clash

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has a release clause in his contract that is reportedly valid for clubs outside of the Premier League.
The Portuguese midfielder has been an integral figure for the Red Devils since his big-money arrival from Sporting CP in January 2020 for a little under £50million. He was named captain by former manager Erik ten Hag in 2023 and has so far amassed over 300 appearances for the club.
This term, under Ruben Amorim, Fernandes has scored five goals and registered seven assists in his 17 appearances across all competitions. He is once again proving how integral he is to the side, but there is a scenario in which he would not be at the club this season had certain figures in United’s hierarchy got their way in the summer.
Earlier this month, Fernandes dropped a huge bombshell by revealing that some were trying to force him out of the club during the last transfer window following a substantial offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Fernandes rejected a significant salary in order to stay put at Old Trafford, with Amorim also eager to keep him at the club, despite a seemingly different view from higher up.
