President Trump Says Son Barron ‘Respects His Father’ More After Meeting Cristiano Ronaldo

Trump, 79, welcomed soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to the White House on Tuesday, November 18, and made sure his son, Barron, 19, was there as well.

“Barron got to meet him,” Trump said, according to the AP. “And I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just the fact that I introduced you.”

Barron is the only child Trump shares with his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. He is also the father of sons Donald Jr., 47, and Eric, 41, as well as daughter Ivanka, 44, whom he shared with ex-wife Ivana Trump, who died in 2022. Trump and ex-wife Marla Maples later welcomed daughter Tiffany, 32, in 1993.

Trump added that Barron is a “big fan” of Ronaldo, 40, who is widely recognized as one of the greatest soccer players of all-time.

Ronaldo is, in turn, a fan of the president. In a November 6 appearance on Piers Morgan: Uncensored, he said that world peace is his “main goal” and that President Trump is one of the people who can help accomplish that.

“I wish one day to meet him [and] sit with him because he’s one of the [people] that I really like,” Ronaldo said. “I think he can make things happen, and I like people like that.”

“I wish that the world goes in a [peaceful] way,” he continued. “That’s what I’m looking for, and I will tell him something. Nobody knows this but, maybe one day if [I] have the opportunity, I’m gonna sit with him and I’m going to tell him that we have something in common and something that we share.”

When Morgan, 60, pointed out that Barron was a big fan of the Portuguese footballer, Ronaldo welcomed the opportunity to meet the teen.

“His son can come as well,” he said. “We [can] do a debate. Who is the most famous in the world: me or Donald Trump?
